UPSC CAPF AC EXAM PATTERN

UPSC CAPF examination is divided into two parts, namely, Paper I & Paper II.


PAPER I GENERAL ABILITY & INTELLIGENCE

The questions in Paper I will be of Objective (Multiple Answers) type for which the time allotted will be of 120 minutes. The total marks for this examination are 250.

MODE OF EXAMINATION

The examination will be conducted through offline mode. The examination is a pen & paper based test containing only multiple choice type questions.


MEDIUM OF EXAMINATION

The questions will be set bilingually, i.e., English & Hindi.


PAPER  II GENERAL STUDIES, ESSAY & COMPREHENSION

Paper II of UPSC CAPF will be a Descriptive type test which will contain 200 Marks. The time allotted for this paper is 180 minutes.

MODE OF EXAMINATION

The examination will be conducted through offline mode. The examination is a pen & paper based test containing Descriptive Type questions.


MEDIUM OF EXAMINATION

1. In this paper, candidates will be allowed the option of writing the Essay Component in English or Hindi.
2. The medium of Precis Writing, Comprehension Components and other communications/ language skills will be English only.


UPSC CAPF AC MARKING SCHEME

Note- Candidates should note that there will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Paper.

1. There are four alternatives for the answer to every question. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.
2. If a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer even if one of the given answers happens to be correct and there will be the same penalty as above for that question.
3. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is given by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.


UPSC CAPF AC PHYSICAL STANDARDS/ EFFICIENCY & MEDICAL TESTS

Candidates who are declared qualified in the written examination will be summoned for Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests. Those candidates who meet the prescribed Physical Standards, will be put through the Physical Efficiency Tests as indicated below :

UPSC CAPF AC INTERVIEW & FINAL SELECTION

1. Candidates, who are declared qualified in the Medical Standards Tests, will be called for an Interview/Personality Test to be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. Candidates who are declared medically unfit but allowed to appear before the “Review Medical Board” on their appeal by the Appellate Authority will be called for Interview/Personality Tests provisionally. The Interview/Personality Test will carry 150 Marks.

2. Candidates who are short-listed for Interview/Personality Test, including those shortlisted for Interview/Personality Test provisionally, will be issued a Detailed Application Form (DAF) in which among other things, they will be required to indicate their preference of Forces.

Final Selection / Merit : The merit list will be drawn on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test.
